Why I Started Everyday Thrive: My Journey to Becoming Stronger, Healthier, and More Confident After 40

There wasn't one single moment when I decided to change my health.

There wasn't a perfect Monday morning where everything suddenly fell into place.

Instead, it was a gradual realization that something needed to change.

Somewhere between working long days as a nurse, raising my family, and keeping up with everything life requires, I realized I had spent years taking care of everyone else while putting myself last.

And if you're anything like me, you may know exactly what that feels like.

You love your family. You show up for the people who need you. You handle the responsibilities, solve the problems, and keep everything moving.

But somewhere along the way, your own health can quietly move to the bottom of the list.

That was where I found myself.

I'm Mollie, a 42-year-old wife, mom of two, licensed practical nurse with more than 15 years of experience, and the creator of Everyday Thrive.

This blog was born from my own journey of wanting to feel better, get stronger, and finally make my health a priority.

When I Realized Something Needed to Change

For years, I told myself I would focus on my health when life slowed down.

The problem was, life never really slowed down.

Between my career, my family, and the everyday responsibilities that come with being a mom and wife, I found myself feeling more tired than I wanted to admit.

I didn't feel as strong as I used to.

I didn't have the energy I wanted.

And if I'm being honest, I didn't always feel confident in myself.

I wanted to feel comfortable in my own body again. I wanted to have the energy to keep up with my kids. I wanted to feel like the best version of myself—not just for my family, but for me.

I knew I needed to make a change.

Learning How to Take Care of Myself

As a nurse, caring for others has always been a huge part of who I am. I believe in education, understanding the "why" behind health recommendations, and making informed choices.

So when I decided to focus on my own health, I approached it the same way.

I started learning.

I spent countless hours researching strength training, nutrition, women's health, supplements, and sustainable habits. I read studies, listened to experts, tried different approaches, and learned what actually worked for me as a busy woman in my 40s.

What I discovered changed the way I viewed health and fitness.

I learned that getting healthier didn't require extreme diets.

I learned that women don't need to be afraid of lifting weights.

I learned that building muscle is one of the best investments we can make for our future health.

I learned that small, consistent habits can create incredible changes over time.

My Transformation Was About More Than Weight Loss

Yes, I lost a significant amount of weight during my journey.

But the number on the scale is not what matters most to me.

The biggest transformation was how I felt.

I became stronger.

I became more confident.

I have more energy.

I don't feel as tired all the time anymore.

I can keep up with my kids and be more present with them instead of feeling like I'm constantly running on empty.

And maybe the biggest change of all—I finally feel good about myself again.

Honestly, I don't think I've truly felt that way since before I had my children.

That feeling didn't come from reaching a certain weight or fitting into a certain size. It came from realizing that I was capable of change. It came from getting stronger, taking care of myself, and proving that I was worth the effort.

Why I Created Everyday Thrive

During my own journey, I realized something:

There is a lot of health and fitness information available, but finding trustworthy, practical advice can feel overwhelming.

One person says you need to eat less.

Another says you need to cut out certain foods.

Someone else says you need a complicated workout routine or expensive supplements.

It can leave women wondering:

Where do I even start?

I created Everyday Thrive because I wanted to build the resource I wish I had when I was beginning my own journey.

A place where women—especially women in midlife—can find realistic information without feeling judged, overwhelmed, or intimidated.

A place that focuses on getting stronger, feeling better, and creating habits that actually fit into real life.

What You'll Find at Everyday Thrive

Everyday Thrive is built around four areas that have made the biggest difference in my own health journey:

Move

Strength training, fitness, mobility, and building confidence through movement.

Whether you're brand new to lifting weights or looking to improve your current routine, my goal is to help you understand how to train in a way that supports your body.

Fuel

Nutrition information that helps you feel energized and strong.

We'll talk about protein, healthy eating habits, supplements, and how to fuel your body without restrictive diets or unrealistic rules.

Women's Health

The unique health changes women experience as we age.

From hormones and menopause to aging well and protecting our long-term health, we'll explore topics that matter to women in their 40s and beyond.

Thrive

The habits, mindset, and lifestyle choices that help you create lasting change.

Because health isn't just about what happens in the gym or what you eat. It's about creating a life where you feel your best.

What You Won't Find Here

You won't find quick fixes.

You won't find extreme diets.

You won't find unrealistic expectations.

You won't find shame or guilt.

Because health should not feel like another thing you are failing at.

Life is busy. Responsibilities are real. And your health journey needs to work within your actual life—not require you to completely change who you are.

Why You Can Trust Me

I'm not a personal trainer or a registered dietitian, and I won't pretend to be.

What I do bring is more than 15 years of experience as a licensed practical nurse, a passion for learning, and firsthand experience making meaningful changes in my own life.

I believe in combining science with real life.

Health information should be accurate, but it should also be practical.

The best plan is the one you can actually follow.

My Message to Other Women

If you've ever looked in the mirror and felt like you lost a piece of yourself...

If you've wondered if it's too late to get stronger...

If you've felt frustrated because your body doesn't respond the way it used to...

If you've spent years putting everyone else first...

I want you to know that change is possible.

You don't have to completely overhaul your life overnight.

You don't have to be perfect.

You don't have to wait until the "right time."

You can start with one small choice today.

A walk.

A strength workout.

A protein-packed meal.

A better night's sleep.

One decision that says, "My health matters too."

Welcome to Everyday Thrive

My hope is that Everyday Thrive becomes a place where you feel informed, encouraged, and supported.

A place where you can learn how to become stronger, healthier, and more confident—without feeling overwhelmed.

Thank you for being here. It truly means a lot to have you along for this journey.

Here's to becoming stronger, healthier, and thriving—one day at a time.

— Mollie
